The loss of our remaining full-service high street banks in towns such as Lewes and Seaford marks the end of an era. It will hit local businesses, charities, older residents and those without digital access - leaving many without the support they rely on. In response, I’m working with the local Liberal Democrats to protect access to banking services by campaigning for banking hubs in our community.
The consistent delaying of elections is deeply undemocratic. The current administration no longer commands a majority, and it is vital that residents are given the chance to choose their representatives during this important period of local government reorganisation. The mandate of current councillors ended in May last year, and residents deserve their say on the performance of the County Council.
Liberal Democrats believe that no politician should be able to take you for granted, so we must change the electoral system for electing MP’s and Councillors to ensure better accountability and representation.
To ensure no politician can take you for granted, I believe in introducing proportional representation by the Single Transferable Vote for all elections.
